They have the “this guy’s an idiot smirk” because they know that Ron Paul is too honest to be elected for one. Secondly, neither McCain nor Romney (nor any other candidate Republican or Democrat) understands economic theory (or for that matter Middle East history) like Ron Paul, so when he’s “owning” them in debates, they just can’t figure it out.
