06.17.2008 / Mastercard Small Business Commercial

In general, I think the Mastercard “Priceless” campaign is tired. However, that didn’t prevent me from enjoying their latest spot which I saw while watching the U.S. Open (best golf tournament ever) this weekend. 06.13.2008 / New Tiger Woods Commercial

Wieden + Kennedy has done another fantastic commercial which is scheduled to air this weekend during U.S. Open coverage. You can get a sneak peak at Nike’s website. WK is the agency behind most of the Sports Center commercials which I think are some of the funniest commercials of all time. Not sure if WK did this particular one but I think it’s my all-time favorite.

05.01.2008 / TurnItAround.ca

Interesting attempt to go against mainstream media channels pushing their values on consumers.  From the site:

“How often have you gone to the store, and found yourself looking at a magazine cover that is designed to manipulate you by trying to make you feel like you’re not pretty enough, thin enough, sexy enough, smart enough, rich enough, or just not ______________ enough?”

From the lack of entries on their blog it appears that either 1)  no one knows about it or 2) no one cares. What do you think?

02.27.2008 / Shock Ads: Effective or Tasteless?

Newsweek has an interesting mini-feature questioning the efficacy of shock ad tactics. AdRant founder Steve Hall told Newsweek these ads are “like a sledgehammer to the face.”

Thoughts?
