11 Facebook Applications That Were Built to Fail
September 8, 2008
Brendan Collins and Rachel King over at Fast Company put together a list of 11 of the worst Facebook applications to hit the site since Facebook opened up its platform to developers. Proof that Web 2.0 land is not always rosy and full of success. “Pimp Fight” made me laugh. I wonder if the article will launch any of them into being popular. That would be ironic, now, wouldn’t it?

Yearbook Yourself
August 30, 2008
My friend Ian posted this on his blog and I thought it was funny. You upload a picture of yourself and then you can scan through different years to see what you look like. Not every year turns out that great but some are pretty funny. I’ve upload three. You can check it out at www.yearbookyourself.com.
YouTube Comments Make Me ROTFL
August 29, 2008
One of my favorite web past times is reading user submitted comments on YouTube videos. If you’ve never tried it you should. It is the source of many uproarious laughs in our household. Maybe I’m too easily amused?
Best Government Web Site I’ve Seen
August 26, 2008
I rode BART back in 2003 (?) when my wife’s cousin and I were heading to San Francisco to watch Barry Bonds try to hit #600 (or was it #660?). We scalped tickets from some crazy homeless guy and then 5 innings in two guys who were hammered asked us to trade seats so they could be closer to two girls directly behind us. Long story short, we ended up about eight rows up from third base. A highlight was clamoring for position in the right field foyer during the last two innings hoping to catch the fabled ball. Like the Daniel Day Lewis flick, there definitely would have been blood if he would have knocked one out there - too many people, too much alcohol and too many gold diggers hoping to auction a piece of baseball history. As it turned out all we did was watch Mr. Bonds and his huge head go 1 for 3 with 2 strikeouts. Thanks for nothing.
Where was I? Oh, yes, for a “dot gov” domain, BART’s site is beautifully done. Props to whoever made the decision to create really good site for a public service offering. Any other government sites you like? I feel like putting together a gallery if there are enough out there. Let me know…
Exciting News!
August 21, 2008
SouthTampaJobs.com is now fourth on google for the term “south tampa jobs” - ahead of Craig’s List and Jobing! A couple more sites to track down to reach my goal of being first on the list. I’m stoked! If you’re an employer or employee looking to post or find a job in Tampa you should check it out. Cheers!
Web 2.6853 Update
August 11, 2008
A few days ago I mentioned a “disruptive web model” that I was working out. Judging by the emails I’ve been getting, lots of people want to know. So without, further adieu, here it is. I look forward to the ensuing ruckus, not least of which, is becoming an increasingly legitimate competitor to the huge internet monopolies that are piling up before our very eyes. Cheers!
Web 2.6853?
August 7, 2008
I may be wrong, but I think I’m in the midst of ironing out the details of a web model that I don’t think has been done before. And it could be truly disruptive to the current web business models. Really, really disruptive. Then, of course, it could be rather staid and boring. But I’m sticking with the first! Be disruptive, Muth!! I said be disruptive!!! (Say it like Homer Simpson for greatest impact.)
Fast Company is So Fast…They Are in the Future!
August 4, 2008
While checking out Francisco Dao’s blog this morning, I was amused to discover that the date on the post was August 8, 2008. For those of you not keeping track, today is August 4, 2008. I thought it was funny.
Anyway, reading through Mr. Dao’s posts was interesting and I think I’ll be adding his feed to my reader. Here’s a quick screen grab of the post below. (Ahem, please forgive the really bad writing.)

Cuil is Cool
July 29, 2008
A couple of former Google programmers just launched a competing search engine called Cuil (pronounced “cool”). From what I’ve read, they sold their previous one to Google in 2004. Very interesting… I like how they are going complete opposite of Google with the whole black color scheme.
