I’m Still Alive
October 30, 2007
Eeesh. I’ve been too busy. A couple of things. First, tomorrow is Halloween and I am totally looking forward to seeing my sons in their pirate costumes. Second, over the weekend I built two-thirds of a built-in media unit for our home office. My wife has been staining and polyurethaning yesterday and today. I’m planning on finishing the handles and shelves tonight. Hopefully I’ll have pics uploaded after that. Third, I really need to update the design of this site - it kills me every time I look at it.

Is Pudding going to compete with Skype?
October 17, 2007
Pudding is basically Skype in a browser which allows them to deliver ads relevant to the words in your conversation. The demo video on Pudding’s site is pretty cheesy and after watching it I’m not sure if I would like to be distracted by all of the ads.
No more mints please
October 17, 2007
Shaun Inman sort of kicked things off with his web site analytics program Mint a couple years back. More recently, another Mint received $4.7 million from Shasta Ventures. And just this evening I ran across two other Mints - a web design firm in Canada and a credit card and loan company in the UK. All of this begs the question “Who is going to sue who?” Or will none of these brands get big enough to even care?
Boomer Networks
October 16, 2007
After reading Apparently Old People Aren’t Dying To Use Eons over a TechCrunch I am surprised to see Inc running a feature on another Boomer network called 55-Alive!.
All of this Boomer stuff is making me wonder if people are trying to force social networking on people who don’t really want it. I know my parents are not at all interested in joining a network of aging people. They have told me that it makes them feel isolated, out of touch and irrelevant. If one of these Boomer networks catches on I guess my parents will prove to be the exception, but my gut tells me that the main concept behind Boomer networks needs to shift from a push approach to a pull approach.
Brilliant on so many levels

If you haven’t heard yet, Radiohead released their 7th album today two days ago. I’m a long time Radiohead enthusiast, but this latest release is ridiculous. And I’m not just talking about the music. The coolest part of this whole release is that the band is letting users name their own price to download the album. Yep, that’s right. You get to decide how much you want to pay. I read on CNN today two days ago that some guy said he was going to pay one hundred dollars for the album.
I’m sure we’ll see a slew of other bands try to follow in Radiohead’s marketing genius, just as we have seen a slew of bands over the last decade try to copy Radiohead’s musical genius. If the last ten years have been any indication all attempts will be cheap imitations.
Stop Comment Spam
October 8, 2007
While waiting for WordPress to upload to the Burma server I realized that I do not know who owns WordPress. After 9 seconds on google I discovered that Automattic is behind WordPress. This is probably old and boring news to most of you, but not to me. In fact, this discovery is very exciting to me especially since I found Akismet which I am hoping thoroughly annihilates the constant flood of comment spam I am drowned in every day.
Coalition for Regime Change in Burma
October 8, 2007
On Friday I started the design of a website for the Coalition for Regime Change in Burma. This is a very worthy organization with admirable goals. Our CEO has been coordinating the effort with the Coalition in NYC. I am excited to be involved with this project and look forward to launching the site soon. Stay tuned…
It felt great…

…to find a few hours to do some work on ClickBricks over the weekend. I am happy with how the idea is developing and feel good about the new design. More to come soon. Now I need to find the time to update the design of this site. Yuck, it is pretty bad.
Really Good News

After taking a tour of the new UNM Children’s Hospital last week this headline stood out to me.
